Are They Really Overpaid

Do you think it is fair that sports athletes be paid such high amounts?

It really isn't my choice or at least very few people are asking my opinion.
The fact is that there are reasons professional athletes and performers
are paid so much.

They are paid based on the public and corporate perception of what they
provide in entertainment. Each field of endeavor has specific amounts,
but this is compensation for the quality of skill that only these
people can provide.

By fair you imply that it is unfair to you or others.

If you could perform those skills at their level YOU would be getting that
money instead of them. A person like Tiger Woods earns a lot of money
because he has spent most of his life dedicated to the process of honing
his special skills at golf. His skill and entertainment value is high.

Sometimes even I question if one athlete is worth hundreds of millions of
dollars, but the decision is not mine to make.

I generally sit back and enjoy their performance as I admire the example
of pure skill and natural ability.
