Its More Focus Than Taste
What is the easiest way to get young children to eat at dinner time?
Don't try so hard. Most of the time the picky eating habits of a child
are linked to much more than the food on the table.
Perhaps they were busy playing or doing something that had captured
that strong single focus that most children exhibit. So their refusal to
eat is usually for several reasons.
- They are still mentally doing something else.
- They are focused on getting back to something else.
- They are simply not hungry at that time.
Have the child sit at the table, but don't dominate them or force them.
Make it clear that the food will be put away after the meal.
The child will eat what they want or make up for it on the next meal.
The few calories they might miss won't hurt them.

I like your approach AJ. Most people get upset when their kids don't eat "well", and you actually see them as human beings, which is great.
